Vacation on a cruise ship is not a new notion, and their popularity is growing with new and more advanced vessels and companies every year. Synonymous for large passenger ships, the Titanic was the largest ship of its era, but it was relatively small compared to present cruise ships.

Ship immortalized in collective history and movies was 882 feet long and 92 feet wide with 46,328 gross tons. With more than 200,000 gross tonnages, modern cruise ships are gigantic and would embarrass the Titanic in the harbour.

But which are the current largest cruisers, and where do they sail? First, we’ll dive into the list of these great ships.

High notes on the Symphony of the Seas 

Modern cruise ships are so tall that it would be impossible to go around them without elaborate elevators. Symphony of the Seas is a part of the Royal Caribbean fleet and is currently the largest cruise ship. With 1,188 feet in length and 238 tall, the Symphony has 228,081 gross tons and is by all standards huge. It has the usual amenities like numerous restaurants, pools, and bars. Mediterranean cruises on Harmony of the Seas 

The second-largest cruise ship in the world belongs to the same company. Although the vessel is part of the Royal Caribbean, it sails on the Mediterranean cruises. The starting port is Barcelona, and the last stop is Civitavecchia. Harmony of the Seas has 226,963 gross tonnages with room for 5,500 people.

Features include fitness and spa centres, Central Park, Boardwalk, and the Royal Promenade.

One company to rule them all 

The Allure of the Seas is another Oasis-class vessel in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Produced in Turku, Funland, the Allure was until recently the largest passenger ship. More than 5400 people can enjoy numerous amenities like fitness facilities, ice-skating rink, a huge theatre, a dance hall, and many others. The Allure of the Seas departs from Florida’s ports and cruises to top Caribbean destinations.

Cote de Azzure cruises on MSC Bellissima 

Bellissima is recently added ship to MSC Cruises company. Built-in Saint-Nazaire, France, it can take more than 4500 passengers and currently sails on Mediterranean cruises with Marseille, Genoa, Naples, Messina, and Barcelona as starting ports.

Sardinia inspired giant 

Gigantic Costa Smeralda is an LNG-powered colossal cruise ship. Although it doesn’t have the cargo or length like some others on the list, Costa Smeralda can carry more than 6500 passengers. The name originates from the coast of Sardinia. It operates on Mediterranean cruises with offers like a round trip from Barcelona or Palma de Majorca. Besides being a green ship, with the usual amenities, Costa Smeralda has 11 restaurants, Baby Squonk Club for kids, Virtual band live concerts, and Silent party feature.
